Rappers can come up with stage names, street names or nicknames in many different ways. Tech N9ne came up with his name because someone said he “raps as fast as an automatic weapon.” So, he named himself after a gun. Eminem used the first letter of his first and last name to craft his onstage moniker, and he also had a alter ego, Slim Shady. Smokepurpp, the Florida-based rapper, who is best known for his collaborations with Hip Hop’s Harvard graduate and living meme, Lil Pump seems to have many different monikers as well, and one is left to theorize how the hell did he get them?
Lil Water and Lil Purpp:
Lil Water and Lil Purpp make the most sense and are the easiest to decipher. Lil Water is a reference to Smokepurpp’s positive side. He cares about the kids and the community and wants to make sure people stay hydrated, as there are many health benefits to drinking water. As they say, “8 glasses a day keep the doctor away. ESKETITTT!” Lil Purpp makes sense as it’s just a alternate version of Smokepurpp, so no real reason to dig deep there.
